Fukushima-bu(ふくしま部)

2020 - Present (Active / Re-structuring)
Connect with Fukushima — People, Culture, and the Future of Energy

Fukushima-bu is a project for young leaders in Japan and abroad who will shape the future. We provide opportunities to learn about the current situation in Fukushima and the charms of its local community — so that more people feel genuinely connected to the region.

  1. Go Take a Look: Study tours exploring Fukushima from multiple angles — people, culture, nature, and the realities of nuclear power and energy. Tours are held in July (Japanese) and October (English), with additional deep dives and school tours throughout the year.

  2. Connect & Learn: An online community and members-only tours designed to deepen understanding of Fukushima and keep participants connected with local people over time.

  3. Take Action: Member-led initiatives to accelerate Fukushima's regional growth — including collaboration with local municipal governments on community building and efforts to increase the number of residents.

Organizer: Global Shapers Community Yokohama Hub
For: Youth in their 20-30s / Domestic and international youth leaders
Frequency: 2 study tours a year (July and October) + more
Language: Japanese / English

Status: This project is active and is in the process of being restructured to be co-organized by Fukushima-bu and Fukushima Hub as of May 2026.
